Story
Your Mind matters.
Irregardless of age, gender, or background, the difficulties that life brings can play havoc on our happiness and our overall mental wellbeing.
With 1 in 4 people in the UK experience mental health difficulties each year its an issue that is, unfortunately, likely to affect many of us, or the people we love.
Sadly, only 1 in 3 individuals in the UK with mental health problems receive treatment each year, and with suicide as the leading cause of death for those aged 20-34 (Source: Samaritans)
It's an issue all too close to my heart, and others I know personally. Depression has ensnared too much of my adult life, and I can say with confidence that without the vital support of charities such as Dorset Mind, the NHS, and the everyday compassion I have received from loved ones, friends, and family members, I would not be here today.
It's time to give back - I am raising funds for Dorset Mind, a fantastic local charity, in way of a 15,000ft skydive over Old Sarum, Salisbury this summer! The exact date of the dive is to be confirmed but will keep you all updated!
Dorset Mind charity educates, challenges mental health stigma and inequality, and encourages recovery by empowering individuals to develop resilience.
Their 1-2-1 & group support includes counselling, mentoring, support groups, active monitoring and a befriending service. These help people regain social skills and develop confidence.
The charity also delivers educational wellbeing programmes for schools and workplaces and provide volunteer opportunities across all areas of the organisation.
