Charity Football Match · 3 May 2025

AMMF is the UK's only cholangiocarcinoma charity. Our main aims are to raise the awareness of cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), to provide information, and to support specialised research teams in their work to find the causes, methods of earlier diagnosis and treatments for this disease.

Story

I sadly lost one of my best friends Leon Chamberlain to a horrible, rare but aggressive cancer in January. He finally succumbed after fighting like the true warrior he was for 18 months. Not just a friend, but of course an amazing husband to Sarah and Dad to Joe and Adam. As well as a much loved Son and Brother.

Leon was a passionate footballer all his life, playing right up until 2023. He also coached his sons’ teams for as long as he possibly could. Another thing he was passionate about was that the AMMF charity does not get enough publicity or funding like other higher profile charities.

So, myself and Leon’s old teammates are dusting off our boots (and bellies) and taking on the under 16 team he coached and his son Joe plays for (yes we must be mad) to raise money for this amazing cause in Leon’s memory.

After the match there will be an event with a raffle at Fylde Rugby Club with some amazing prizes and each £5 donation will get one raffle entry.

Thank you for giving anything you can. I know much it would mean to Leon 😊
