Story

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read Leo’s story.

Leo was born in December 2024 with three complex heart conditions: DORV, AVSD, and pulmonary stenosis.

During 2025, Leo underwent five open-heart surgeries, including the fitting of a pacemaker and a diaphragm plication procedure. He spent a long period of time in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, where he received an outstanding level of care and support, not only for him, but for us as parents too.

As of May 2025, Leo is doing incredibly well and finally getting to enjoy life as a happy, relatively healthy little boy, doing all the things a child should be doing.

We will never be able to thank PICU enough for everything they did for our family. That’s why we’ve decided to raise money for Friends of PICU, who provide so much invaluable support behind the scenes for children and families going through the toughest times.

And what better way to raise money than by taking on a gruelling 10-mile challenge?

Running in support of Leo are his parents, Liam and Sophie, alongside their good friend Sammy.

We’re hoping to raise as much as possible, so any support, big or small — would mean the world to us. Thank you so much for helping us give something back to the people who helped save our little boy.
