John O'Groats to Land's End · 7 October 2023

Asthma is common. There are huge inequalities in asthma care in the UK. Children suffer unnecessarily and sadly every year children are still dying from asthma. We believe that by improving education, standardising care and working together we can change the lives of children with asthma

Story

Leo and Michael are cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End this October and would like to raise some funds for Beat Asthma.

During lockdown, Leo completed a virtual LeJog but has been determined to do the real thing as soon as he was allowed to. Despite Mark Beaumont telling him that 12 was more than old enough to manage the distance, we've managed to hold him off until now!

They've chosen Beat Asthma as over the course of the past few years, Jamie has had many trips to A&E, out of hours and hospital because of breathing difficulties and problems with his lungs. In August, he had the worst episode so far while we were away on holiday and, as a result, has been diagnosed with asthma.

Alongside the advice from the hospital and our GP, the information from Beat Asthma has been invaluable and, while we hope that he'll grow out of it, knowing there is a wealth of information and support available to him as he grows up is incredibly reassuring. Leo's sure it won't be too long before he and Jamie are off cycling LeJog!
