Les's fundraiser for PROSTATE CANCER UK

Les Jones is raising money for PROSTATE CANCER UK

Quiz Night

1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. At Prostate Cancer UK, we’re giving every man the power to navigate it. With over £100 million invested in research, treatment, and care, we’re building a future where prostate cancer no longer cuts men’s lives short. Together, we can help save men’s lives.

Story

Losing my sweet Border Terrier, Lily, just before Christmas last year was incredibly tough. She was 14, and her death from cancer left a huge hole in my life. She was the cheekiest, most loving, and loyal dog you could ever meet.

Just as I was starting to come to terms with that loss, my brother Stephen passed away in February. He had battled lung cancer and, for a while, had beaten it. But the disease returned aggressively, a devastating reality that so many people face.

Then, in April, I received my own diagnosis: prostate cancer. It was a massive shock. I was fit, healthy, and a regular at the gym—it felt so unfair. But after some dark and sleepless nights, I made the decision to have my prostate removed. This was a chance to live my life when so many others don't get that opportunity.

The journey has been an emotional and physical rollercoaster, but I've been surrounded by incredible support. My family, friends, the NHS surgeon and his team, the staff at QEUH, Maggie's Centre in Glasgow, and my physiotherapist have been phenomenal. The operation was a great success, and I'm now in a good place, back at the gym and enjoying outdoor walks. Life is good.

This fundraising page isn't about my story. It’s about raising awareness for **Prostate Cancer UK**. Early detection is key, and the more men who get checked, the better the success rate.

I know times are tough, and giving to yet another charity might seem hard, but I’m asking for any small donation you can spare. We're also hosting a **quiz night at the Killoch in Neilston** to raise funds. All are welcome—please check the Killoch Facebook page for more information.

Thank you,

Les
