Chillswim: Coniston 2025 · 21 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

NeuroMuscular Centre (NMC) supports people and families affected by neuromuscular conditions. We offer physiotherapy, training & development, support & advice, young people’s support, and ConnectUp, our social programmes, all supporting the physical and emotional well-being of our community.

Story

On behalf of our Lady Captain, Ann Yue, at our golf club, Pryor Hayes, I will be attempting to swim the length of Coniston in the Lake District on 21st June 25 (5.25 miles end to end) to support her chosen charity, The NeuroMuscular Centre.

The NeuroMuscular Centre is a charity that seeks to enable all those affected by neuromuscular conditions (including muscular dystrophies) to live healthy, fulfilling and productive lives.

The Centre is based in Winsford, Cheshire, providing essential services and specialist advice for people and families affected by neuromuscular conditions across the UK and beyond.

It provides services that the NHS does not, including regular physiotherapy, training and development courses, careers and employment advice, young person support (including the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and University support), specialist advice, and its Connect Up social programmes, all of which support the physical and mental health of the community.

The centre is proud to enable people to lead full and productive lives, many of it’s staff have neuro-muscular conditions themselves.

The centre relies completely on people like you to continue their work, the cost of which is over £1.2 million per year.

Warning - This is a first for me, I am a proficient pool swimmer but am a novice in open water. I will do my very best to go the distance 💪🏻.

Thank you for visiting my page and reading my story and thanks in advance for your support.
