Free The Bears are dedicated to protecting, rescuing and caring for the world's most vulnerable bear species - Sun bears and Moon bears.

Captive bears in Asia are used for bear bile and this is extracted using cruel, painful procedures and sold as traditional medicine. The exploitation of captive bears for their bile is one of the worst examples of bear cruelty in the world. Most farmed bears are kept in tiny cages and often the bears are unable to stand or move inside these cages. Many bears are taken from their mothers who have been killed and the cubs are put into a cage often for the rest of their lives, some have been caged for up to 30 years. The impact on their physical & mental health is immense.

With the support of compassionate individuals like you, Free the Bears have successfully rescued over 950 bears from the illegal wildlife trade, not only from bear bile farms, they have also played a pivotal role in ending the centuries-old dancing bear tradition in India. They have now built sanctuaries in three countries and have become a world leader in bear cub care.

I will be volunteering for 3 weeks at the end of this year and travelling to their Vietnam Sanctuary to help out and would love to raise as some money for this amazing charity before I go.
