Story
After Mum went to live at Lorimer House she went on a canal boat trip with Seagull Trust. She enjoyed the trip enormously . At the time her mobility was poor and her dementia advancing. Sitting on a boat which moved slowly along the canal suited her needs and she had fun.
I volunteer for the Seagull Trust. We take groups of people, one of whom has to have additional needs, like Mum. We have a wheelchair lift so the cabin is accessible. The groups get tea, coffee and biscuits and many bring their own lunch. We have three boats at Ratho with morning and afternoon trips 7 days a week, all run by volunteers . None of the groups is charged. Care Homes, clubs, family and friend groups have a great trip moving slowly up a leafy canal with swans, ducks and paddle boats coming past.
