Story
I've been thinking about how to mark the occasion of my retiring from NHS England, and express appreciation for the many happy and productive years I have had working on Living With and Beyond Cancer with so many incredible people. I would very much like that the cancer charity closest to my heart, the Pelvic Radiation Disease Association (PRDA), to benefit from this occasion. Thank you so much.
I have been incredibly privileged to work on LWBC for over 15 years (7 at Macmillan, 8 at NHS England) and before that in other roles across the NHS and in science. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everyone's support, advice, challenge and friendship, and above all else, for flying the flag for LWBC and quality of life!
I have always been deeply moved by hearing the experiences of people living with late effects of cancer treatment https://www.prda.org.uk/real-life-stories/, and also the experiences of health professionals struggling to develop services for what are still very often under-recognised conditions which can have a devastating effect on health, quality of life and also impact survival. Hence, I may be stepping away from LWBC at NHS England, but I will remain a volunteer on Team PRDA for the foreseeable future!
Any donation would be greatly appreciated and will be put to excellent use in PRDA's work to ensure people with Pelvic Radiation Disease get the best support, care and treatment possible, and in influencing for better late effects services more widely.
