Richard loved the freedom and adventure of being outdoors. Whether it was a climbing, cycling, diving, surfing or kayaking expedition or simply when talking about the geology and formation of the landscape around him, he was happiest in the fresh air.

He was a loving father, husband, son and big brother, a great friend and an extremely respected and patient teacher. But very sadly, he was taken from us all too soon.

On 6th of September 2014, Richard completed his bagging of the Munros on Sgùrr Mhic Chòinnich and although he never had any need to be assisted by anyone from Scottish Mountain Rescue, he greatly respected the work they did.

These 850 volunteers respond in a moment’s notice, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide assistance to people in the outdoors. They give up their time, their beds, abandon their work, and are often called away from their families to assist total strangers. But they need funding to be able to do this.

Three in five rescues are funded by donations from the public, so your support, in memory of Richard, will help save lives.
