Walk for Hearts · 1 May 2025 to 31 May 2025 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support.

In February 2023 I had a minor stroke (on the 13th hole of Copthorne Golf Course it seems), caused apparently by an irregular and accelerated heartbeat - Atrial Fibrillation (AF).

Life has been more complex since then - "altered" is perhaps the best way to describe it. The NHS and the BHF, and the Stroke Association have all been wonderful, and I want to try to give something back.

So I'm not running a Marathon or anything silly like that - in fact my medication almost certainly prevents me from doing that - or sitting in a tub of baked beans (too expensive). I am simply "walking 31 miles in May" (I now know that its 31 miles as there are 31 days in May - Doh!! Who knew - thanks John).

So weirdly, this is an opportunity for you to give to a very worthwhile charity while I walk around for a bit. Hopefully I'll do 50 miles or more, but I won't charge you any more if I do .... unless you insist of course.

I know that many of us have been affected by Heart Disease, and the BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives.

It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.

Thanks!
