Story
Why I’m Doing This
If my wife could endure years of infertility and survive two rounds of IVF, then I know I can do this. I’m not a runner — I never have been — but I’ve had a front‑row seat to what real strength looks like. I’ve watched my wife carry the physical pain, the emotional toll, the endless appointments, injections, setbacks, and quiet moments of heartbreak — and still find the courage to keep going. So I’m pushing myself from 5k, to 10k, and all the way to a half marathon, taking on the Scottish Half Marathon on 16 August 2026 and the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run on 4 October 2026. This challenge will be uncomfortable, intimidating, and exhausting at times — but it will never compare to what she has already been through. Every mile I run is fuelled by her resilience, and by the belief that strength like that should be turned into something that helps others.
Our Journey
Our journey to having a child took five long years. Five years of hope, disappointment, uncertainty, and learning how to keep going when nothing is guaranteed. After one failed round of IVF, we were incredibly lucky that our second round worked, and we are now expecting our little one in November 2026. We are deeply grateful — but the journey left its mark. Infertility and IVF are isolating experiences, not just for women, but for couples. As a man, you often feel powerless — desperate to protect your partner, while having nowhere to put your own fear, grief, or exhaustion.
Why Let’s Talk FAB Matters
This is why Let’s Talk FAB matters so deeply to us. Infertility, IVF, miscarriage, and baby loss don’t just affect the body — they affect mental health, relationships, confidence, and identity. Yet so many people are left to navigate this pain in silence, with little emotional support and nowhere safe to talk about what they’re really feeling.
Let’s Talk FAB steps in where the system so often falls short. They offer counselling, peer support, healing retreats, Reiki, and wellbeing events — not as luxuries, but as lifelines. They create safe, compassionate spaces where people can finally exhale, be honest, and feel understood by others who truly get it. They support both women and men, recognising that fertility struggles affect entire families, not just individuals.
What makes Let’s Talk FAB so powerful is that they remind people they are not broken for struggling, not weak for hurting, and not alone in what they’re going through. Their work gives people something that is so often missing during fertility battles: connection, understanding, and hope. This charity exists because people deserve more than just medical treatment — they deserve care, humanity, and support during some of the hardest moments of their lives.
How You Can Help
I’m taking on this challenge to help Let’s Talk FAB continue to be there for people when they need it most. If you’re able to donate — no matter the amount — you’re helping fund support that can genuinely change lives. If you can’t donate, sharing this page means just as much. Thank you for supporting this cause, for supporting this charity, and for helping turn resilience, love, and survival into hope for others.
