Travelling over 10,000km in 29 trains across 4 countries

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading, national dementia charity in Scotland. Our mission is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide advice, information and support and we are here for people living with dementia, their families and carers across Scotland.

Story

Alzheimer Scotland makes sure nobody faces dementia alone. They provide an extensive range of innovative and personalised support services and also campaign for the rights of people with dementia and their families .

Our local Dementia Resource Centre has provided a lifeline for our families since Richard’s diagnosis, providing practical advice and connecting us with people who care.

On 21 September Richard and Ailsa are setting off on a European adventure by train which will take them across four countries and over 10,000km. The original purpose of the trip is to follow the fortunes of the Scotland Rugby Team in the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Richard and Ailsa met through Rugby 23 years ago in Dublin on a six nations weekend. Richard in particular loves rugby and always loved to organise rugby weekends with his brothers and friends. Now Alzheimer’s disease makes that more difficult but he has Ailsa at his side. In between three games Richard and Ailsa will explore European cities and scenic railway journeys. They will share the highs and lows of their 29 train journeys and other adventures including the mistakes and tips on their vlogs which you can follow on the Let’s Tackle It Together Facebook page and letstackleittogether insta page.
