Story
On the evening of 26th April, we will be completing a long walk to help raise funds for the rebuilding of our synagogue: Finchley Progressive Synagogue, FPS. Our family target is to raise £750.
Our family are members of the synagogue. It is where Francesca celebrated festivals and high holy days growing up, where Annabel studies Hebrew and Jewish studies every Saturday and where we now go together for worship and celebration.
Why are we walking?
FPS is not just a synagogue; it is a place of welcome, of action and of care. We welcome over 200 visitors into our synagogue each month from our partner charities. Every step we take will help raise the final funds needed for our building work, ensuring that our doors remain open to everyone who needs us.
Who do we support?
At FPS we believe in standing with those who need us most. Every week, as well as hosting services and learning sessions, we welcome:
30 children of asylum seekers to our Home from Home Club, offering a safe and joyful space
40 LGBTQ+ refugees and asylum seekers to The Rainbow Lunch Club, where food and friendship provide comfort and dignity
60 Afghani and Farsi-speaking women to The Yaran Women’s Club, creating community and support
We also partner with incredible organisations like Homeless Action Barnet, The Southover Partnership SEND School, and the Somali Bravânese Welfare Association. Our responsibility extends beyond our own walls.
Please support us by donating. Every step we take is a step towards a stronger, more welcoming FPS.
We look forward to the completion of the building work and thank you in advance for your donation.
