Story
This October I am taking on HYROX Birmingham to help raise money for Diabetes UK. Diabetes UK is the UK's leading diabetes charity, working to improve the lives of people with diabetes and those at risk. They achieve this through a combination of providing information and support, campaigning for better care, and funding research to find a cure and better treatments.
In August 2023 my sister was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 9 years old. Type 1 Diabetes is a chronic condition where the body doesn't produce insulin, a hormone crucial for converting glucose (sugar) into energy. It is not possible to prevent Type 1 Diabetes and there is currently no cure.
HYROX is a global fitness competition that combines both running and functional workouts. It features a standardized format of eight 1-kilometer runs interspersed with eight different functional exercises within a stadium-style atmosphere. The race format is below:
1000m run - 1000m SkiErg
1000m run - 50m Sled Push (125kg)
1000m run - 50m Sled Pull (103kg)
1000m run - 80m Burpee Broad Jumps
1000m run - 1000m Row
1000m run - 200m Farmers Carry (2x 24kg Kettlebells)
1000m run - 100m Sandbag Lunges (20kg Sandbag)
1000m run - 100x Wall Balls (6kg Ball)
Thank you for all of your support and donations. Lewis.
