Story
At age 11 I was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes, the photo at the top was taken a few days after I was diagnosed. At the time my biggest fear was needles. I swore that I would go the whole of my life without having an injection. It was then a massive shock to find out that I would need to inject myself multiple times a day for the rest of my life. Just like anything, if you face your fears you will overcome them.
I received amazing support from the NHS and the nurses/doctors upon being diagnosed and thereafter. I have always felt like I wanted to give back to the Diabetes community to help fight this disease in the attempt to try and find a cure for this life long condition. Any small part that we can play will make a difference to all these who benefit from the incredible work that Diabetes UK does.
Taking on the London marathon is physically very challenging for any person. Those with Diabetes will understand the additional obstacles that need to be navigated during such a long physical event. It would be easy to complain or make excuses for not doing anything difficult because of this. However, I will not let Diabetes define who I am or limit what I can achieve.
Thank you in advance for your generous donations. Let's do this!
