Alike was created to end loneliness and isolation caused by cancer. We exist to empower our community to make meaningful connections through seamless digital experiences which help people find their sense of belonging.

Story

Hey everyone,

On May 11th, I’m running the Leeds Marathon to raise money for a charity that means a huge amount to me and my family — Alike.

Alike was founded by my brother Bradley after his experience with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia. He went through years of treatment, and eventually needed a bone marrow stem cell transplant, which I was fortunate enough to be the donor for. Throughout everything, one thing really stuck with him — how isolating cancer can be, especially for young people.

Even with support from family and friends, there were times when Bradley felt completely alone. That feeling is more common than most people realise, and that’s exactly why he created Alike.

There’s no easy way to live with cancer, and the loneliness that often comes with it is deeply unfair. It doesn’t just affect mental health — it increases the risk of dying by 26%. Alike is here to change that, building meaningful connections between people who truly understand what it’s like to face cancer.

It’s the world’s first not-for-profit digital peer support network designed around the needs of people with cancer. Through a simple, accessible app, Alike helps users connect with others who are going through something similar, offering understanding, empathy and support when it’s needed most.

I’m aiming to raise £1,000 to help Alike reach more people and continue growing this incredible community — and I’m also hoping to run the marathon in under 3 hours and 45 minutes, if the legs hold up.

If you’re able to donate, share, or simply send some encouragement, I’d be so grateful. Every penny (plus 25% more with GiftAid if you’re in the UK) goes directly to helping Alike fight loneliness and isolation for people living with cancer.

Thanks so much for your support. It really means a lot.
