New Beginnings is a registered Charity who retrain and re-home former racehorses. There are around 14,000 racehorses in training in Great Briton with approximately 4 to 5,000 leaving the sport each year. Some of the successful ones go onto stud to breed the next generation of racehorses, some go racing abroad, but due to the racehorses fantastic versatility many go onto be retrained to do dressage, showing eventing or to be a hack. But what happens to the ones that are quirky or difficult, or fall on hard times latter in life? That is where New Beginnings step in. New Beginnings take in horses straight from racing or more often they come from private post racing homes were for whatever reason the owner can no longer look after the horse. We never sell our horses, but once they are ready to be re-homed look for forever loan homes, this way we can guarantee security for the rest of the horse’s natural life. New Beginnings take in horses for the RoR through the “Vulnerable Horse Scheme” taking care of the most vulnerable former racehorses that need that extra care. We have been established for over 10 year's and have grown in both expertise and experience to offer each and every horse that comes to us the security that they need. We have come a long way starting with just a few acres to give security to a few horses to the Charity that we have evolved into.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

"New Beginnings was established in 2010 and has been providing a safe and secure environment for former racehorses, where they can adjust and be re-trained for their second career following racing.

We bring in horses straight from racing or more often from private post racing homes where for whatever reason the owner can no longer look after them. At New Beginnings we also assist the RoR (Retraining of Racehorses) through their ‘Vulnerable Horse Scheme’ to provide care, compassion and stability for the most vulnerable former racehorses that need that extra help and understanding."

I'm going to be bashing out the Leeds Half Marathon in May (hopefully stepping stone to doing the big one next year) to raise some money for New Beginnings, an amazing Yorkshire charity that care for retired racehorses.

I have been lucky enough to spend time with Pam, Kevin and the team through work and couldn't speak any higher of the care and commitment they have to their horses.

Both professionally and personally, I owe plenty in my life to racehorses and it would mean plenty to me if I could help ensure a loving environment for thoroughbreds to go into when they leave the racing industry - obviously it's very close to my heart and it would be extra special to help such a local cause too.

Any support would be mint,
