Story
In September I’ll be taking on a 5 day cycling challenge across Tanzania pedalling 454km from Mount Kilimanjaro National Park to the Indian Ocean.
The journey will start in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, travelling through small farming towns and rural communities before reaching the coast at the mouth of the Pangani River, and finishing on the beautiful beaches of Tanga and Zanzibar.
For me, this challenge is about much more than the distance.
Just under two years before this ride, I underwent major knee reconstruction surgery, rebuilding my ACL, PCL and meniscus after a serious injury. The recovery has been long, challenging, and at times frustrating. There were many months focused simply on getting strength, mobility, and confidence back.
This ride has become my end goal and something to work towards throughout the rehabilitation process and a way to push myself both physically and mentally.
Cycling 454km over 5 days through the Tanzanian countryside will be a huge personal challenge, but it also feels like the perfect way to mark the journey from injury back to full strength.
If you’re able to support the cause I’m riding for, it would mean a lot. Every donation helps motivate me through the training and the long days in the saddle.
Thank you for your support and for being part of the journey.
