Paul Allen and Jimmy Byrne; two strong, family men, both taken from us too early, doing something they loved.

Paul was surrounded by friends, family and Fulham fans after suffering a heart attack at Craven Cottage, watching the most exciting Fulham team in ages. Sadly, he missed out on seeing the team win promotion back to the Prem.

Jimmy, a man who prided himself on his fitness, suffered a heart attack on a rowing machine in the gym. He missed out on him and his wife's joint 70th, which was a smasher, in Barcelona.

Since Paul's passing, his daughter and my friend, Clare Parish, set up the Paul Allen Project, whose main aims are to go into communities and provide Basic Life Support Training for free and raise funds to provide communities with public access defibrillators and bleed control kits.

I am going to try to support the Project, raising funds by doing some running in 2026. I'm going to start off with a lumpy 10 mile trail race, in a bog, in Epsom and I'm going to race nationally and internationally. My toughest race will probably be the 87km Comrades Ultra Marathon in June 2026 in South Africa; 87km of climbing from coastal Durban to Pietermaritzburg inland, in under 12 hours.

I'd be extremely grateful if you could give a little to the Project, so less people have to go through what Clare's family and my family had to go through.
