Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some of you may know that I coach my daughter's football team North Cardiff Cosmos FC (NCCFC). As a club, we have nominated Barnardo's as our chosen charity this year. Our head of girls' coaching, Sarah Rowe works for Barnardo’s and is running the London Marathon this year, to raise money for Barnardo’s also.
Like Barnardo’s I believe in the importance of sport and physical activity in helping to improve the physical and mental health of young people. At NCCFC we strive to promote a positive and supportive environment for young people to play football.
Due to too many football injuries, my running days are behind me, so I decided to take on a challenge that involves sitting down!
On May 10th I'll be joining thousands of other riders and cycling the 108 miles from Cardiff to Tenby, hopefully raising hundreds of pounds for Barnardo's in the process. Barnardo’s offer crucial support and intervention to some of the poorest families in society to achieve positive change and improve family outcomes. In 2022-23 Barnardo’s reached 373,200 people across the UK, with 61 services and partnerships being delivered in Wales.
Cycling is not something I have done a whole lot of, but I have bought some padded shorts and have enjoyed my training to date! I'm hoping the weather will be kind on the day and the hills won't be too steep (although this is South Wales!).
Please give as generously as you can so Barnado’s can continue to change the lives of children
