I am doing a 50 mile (80km) ultra marathon from Manchester to Liverpool to raise money for Amyloidosis UK.

My Mum was diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis in 2016 and sadly passed away November 2022. The disease is treatable but it’s not curable. It is such a rare disease that there is only one centre in the UK based in London that can diagnose patients with Amyloidosis.

You can be treated for it in hospital using chemotherapy.

Amyloidosis is considered a very rare disease in the UK. I want to help raise more awareness and money to help other families who may be struggling with this condition.

I was a full-time carer for my Mum and it was heart breaking to see how deteriorating this disease was and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone else.
