Story
Three years ago, I was signed up to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon. But in late September 2022, my daughter, Lia, tragically passed away, and I couldn’t bring myself to run. This year, I am running because of her. I am running for Lia, in her memory, and in support of Lia’s Wings, the charity named after my beautiful daughter.
This year also marks 10 years since our son, Christopher, was stillborn, and one year since our daughter, Lillian Grace, was born — our little blessing. This race will be both physically and emotionally demanding. I will struggle with every step, but I am determined to cross the finish line, no matter how long it takes.
Sitting in a hospital, not knowing what is happening to your child, with no answers, fearing the worst — it’s a place I would never wish on anyone. It is terrifying and lonely.
I’ve seen firsthand the difference Lia’s Wings makes during the darkest moments a family can face. Since rebranding to Lia’s Wings, the charity has already sponsored 112 life-changing and often life-saving journeys, giving children across the world access to treatment and healthcare they desperately need.
Because of my darling Lia, more children and families are getting help than ever before. With your support, we can do even more. Lia’s Wings is the UK’s only aeroplane ambulance charity for children. Every donation makes a vital difference. Your generosity will help more families, keep Lia’s light shining in the world, and ensure her energy continues to transform lives — just as she would have loved.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness and support. It means the world to us.
