We’re inviting you to join us to support breast cancer prevention by Wearing Something Orange for the day.

Story

Myself and my friend Delilah are wearing something orange whilst running the Leeds Inflatable 5k on the 29th June 2024 to raise money for Breast Cancer UK. This is a cause that is very close to home for myself in particular. Last year (2023) my mum was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes. After undergoing a double mastectomy and a month of radiotherapy, my mum was given the all clear in December 2023!

Even though my mum has made it through her battle, sadly some people don't and Breast Cancer UK's ambitions to stop preventable breast cancer cases for future generations is extremely inspiring to us both. My mums breast cancer wasn't preventable but it is for some people. I cannot begin to explain what it is like to be in a room hearing that your mum, your best friend, has breast cancer and I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.

Delilah and I have been best friends since 2004 (at this point she is family) and having to tell her that my mum has breast cancer is a moment that I will never forget.

We simply just want to help in anyway that we possibly can 🧡
