Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Lillian Bickley (1935–2024) was a passionate advocate for social justice, a pioneering educator, and a dedicated community leader. Born in Jamaica, she moved to London in the 1960s, where she became deeply involved in supporting marginalised communities, working as a social worker, counsellor, and educator. Lillian’s activism spanned decades, from counselling the victims of the New Cross Fire to serving as a school governor and guiding youth programs in Lewisham & Brixton. Her commitment to equality, education, and cultural heritage left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
We are encouraging donations to the Black Cultural Archives in London in honour of Lillian’s life and dedication to empowering Black communities. This vital institution preserves and celebrates Black British history, a cause close to Lillian’s heart. Your contribution will help continue her legacy of uplifting marginalised voices and supporting cultural heritage.
