Carol Plunkett is raising money for Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust Charitable Fund

Spring Blickling Half Marathon · 29 March 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

We raise funds and accept donations to provide specialist equipment and support NHS staff in delivering outstanding healthcare across Norfolk. Our goal is to enhance the care, experience and treatment of patients and support our hard-working NHS staff at hospitals and in the community.

Story

I am raising funds for the Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Charitable Fund 'Lymphoedema Fund'.

I started working for the lymphoedema team in 2018 as a receptionist, I knew nothing about lymphoedema and had never worked in health care before.

Nearly 8 years on and now working as a care co-ordinator within the same team I can say I’ve learned so much through listening to patients’ stories and working with our amazing clinical staff.

When I heard we needed to raise money for new equipment, i wanted to help. I have been running for just over 2 years and as someone who sits down as their job, I love getting out and going for a run with my dog .

This will be my 3rd half marathon, and I know this one is important as I am raising money for the patients, whom all of them I have probably spoken with on the phone, or to their husbands, wives or children to give advice, book appointments or most of the time give travel directions.

The Lymphoedema team are raising funds to pay for a Thor laser.

The laser is very beneficial for helping with breaking down fibrotic areas which can occur with a chronic lymphoedema or with an area that has received radiotherapy. Patients with breast/truncal lymphoedema and patients with head and neck lymphoedema do not have compression garments available on prescription to help them manage their condition, and yet these groups of patients suffer the most in terms of fibrosis, tenderness and complications associated with fibrosis such as cellulitis.

This piece of equipment will be invaluable and we would really appreciate any donations towards it so we can offer this additional service.
