Story
Lillie and Callie will be completing 6 DEKA MILE fitness competitions in 7 days (See what a DEKA MILE is below) in memory of Lillie’s step sister Amy.
In November 2022 Amy found a lump in her ankle which was quickly diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a type of bone cancer. Amy then went on to have her lower leg amputated, along with many rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy as the Cancer had then spread to her lungs. After a few months of remission, Amy was then diagnosed again after finding a lump in her mouth and head, and after more chemotherapy and radiotherapy it became too much. Amy sadly passed away on the 3rd of January 2024, aged 17.
We have decided to choose the Teenage Cancer Trust to raise money for as they provide care and support in many different ways to teenagers across the UK dealing with cancer.
Lillie and Callie will be completing the first 5 DEKA MILES at Wyboston Health And Fitness Club every day from the 4th of May until the 8th of May, and then completing the final one at the DEKA MILE event in Stoke on the 10th of May. Wyboston gym will also be holding a cake sale on Friday the 9th of May to celebrate.
A DEKA MILE is a fitness competition based on strength, endurance and grit. This includes 10 fitness zones (row, ski erg, weighted burpees, sled push/pull, air bike, weighted lunges, farmers carry, weighted sit ups, weighted shoulder overs and box jumps) with a 160m run in between each station.
Any donations will be hugely appreciated, and we can’t wait to get some of you involved in our training sessions🩷
