Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page in memory of our dearest father, Bill Brown.
Bill was a deeply spiritual man who took great solace in worshipping at St Georges Church, Hanover Square. It was his sanctuary from a busy schedule, the one time he could switch off and give thanks for his blessings in life and for his beloved family. As the venue for family celebrations over the years it became significant to us all.
In later days when it became difficult to get to Church, the Church came to him. Father Roderick Leece would hold communion with him once a month at his home and say prayers together before discussing the ways of the world over tea and biscuits.
During Covid the Church’s innovative use of zoom to broadcast live services, became somewhat of a lifeline for Bill. He embraced the new technology, sitting in front of his computer screen every Sunday morning. This enabled him to participate on a regular basis even after being confined to his home.
Over the years Bill supported the Church in various ways and made his wishes known to the family that St George’s was his chosen cause. The family thinks it fitting to continue his legacy to support such a wonderful church that did so much to support him in life, and now in death.
Our sincere thanks go to Father Roderick Leece for all his guidance, understanding and compassion.
