Story

We celebrate fibromyalgia awareness week in the first half of September and since I didn't get to do much for awareness month in May, I am challenging myself with 3 personal Fitness challenges in this time period. I want to show that although this illness can be so destructive, we can still try and be as healthy as possible, mobile and active individuals.

I am going on a hike up Snowdonia on the 4th of September which is the first part of the challenge. Growing up, hiking was important for me and it can be a tricky thing to do if I'm going through fatigue periods.

The second activity I will be doing will be a 1-1 aerial silks class. I had to give up silks the first time I tried because of injury feed by the fibro and uncomfortable instruction. I have now found a fabulous teacher who is helping me a lot, even in days when my body isn't strong enough. I can still accomplish little things and it give me a great sense of being in control of my own body.

And finally I have set myself a high target of chair yoga. I don't like doing this activity as many know because it frankly just isn't my thing but this is good for my pain and mobility issues and I think I owe it to myself to try and keep it up for the sake of being healthier.

I hope you can all support me in this challenge. There will be videos/ pictures of the challenges I will be doing which will be shared on my YouTube channel @fibromyalgiakindness and our Facebook group by the same name.

Thanks a lot for all the help and support to raise awareness for Fibromyalgia Action UK.
