Story
If you know me, you’ll know I’m not exactly the “let’s go for a walk” type. Unless it’s for work, you’ll rarely catch me being active. I tried running once… never again. Absolute disaster.
Between juggling two jobs and only really having Sundays free, which I still spend running around collecting cake for my mum’s shop, it’s safe to say I don’t exactly have loads of spare time. The self-control not to eat a ridiculous amount of cake every week is a challenge in itself.
Last year, I signed up to walk 75 miles… and somehow ended up doing 105.53. That might not sound like loads to some people, but for me it was a massive achievement. There were definitely days I questioned my life choices, especially when I was dragging myself out of bed at 6am to get steps in before work, but by the end of it I felt amazing. And honestly, that’s a feeling I really need again right now.
This year is going to be a completely different story though.
Last time, I was single and didn’t drive, so I basically had no excuse but to walk everywhere. Now, I’ve been with my partner nearly a year and I’ve been driving for about 10 months… and I drive everywhere. Half my week starts with dropping my partner off at work, then heading back home to get ready for my own job, which pretty much wipes out any chance of a morning walk. Evenings? Usually working. Weekends? Also working.
So yeah… this is going to be a challenge.
But I’m doing it anyway. I’m going to smash that 75-mile goal again and hopefully go even further, all while raising money for a cause that means a lot to me. I volunteered at the hospice for around 10 months, so it’s something really close to my heart.
If you can spare anything at all, I’d really appreciate the support 💛
