Story
Dedicated to the funniest 4 year old I know, Proud of you ❤️
In September 2022, our little boy Harley made quite the entrance into the world. Harley was rushed to the NICU at St Peter’s Hospital and placed under induced hypothermia treatment to give his body the best chance of recovering, including a suspected period without oxygen to his brain & seizure's. We suddenly found ourselves facing one of the scariest times of our lives. The first time we ever got to see who he was, we were both overwhelmed by the sight of our tiny baby surrounded by wires, tubes and monitors, connected to his little tummy, head and hands. For the first five days, we couldn’t hold Harley or have any visitors, we were in our own little NICU bubble, just trying to take hour by hour hoping he'd survive. We slowly began to understand what each machine did, what the changing numbers on the monitors meant, the nurses shifts and what each scary constant noise or alarm meant.
During our time there, we saw tiny babies supported by the most incredible nurses and medical team. We witnessed first-hand the dedication, care and specialist equipment needed to give these little fighters the best possible chance.
Little Roo Neonatal Fund helped our family through a time we will never forget, and we will always be grateful for the support and equipment that helped save Harley’s life. He is our little super hero.
Every year, more than 700 babies are admitted to St Peter’s NICU for life-saving care. Little Roo helps provide specialist equipment, supports families to stay close to their babies, and helps fund training and wellbeing support for the amazing staff who care for them.
We know just how much this support matters because we’ve been there ourselves. No family expects to find themselves in NICU, but for so many, it becomes their world so we want to give something back to a charity that made such a difference to our family and to help other babies and parents going through the same experience.
As part of Accent’s 25th Anniversary, they’re bringing the teams together to raise money for 25 charities and celebrate the communities that mean so much to us. From September 2026 to May 2027, our target is to raise a combined £25,000 across all 25 charities. To help make every pound go further, Accent will match £1 for every £1 raised, up to £1,000 per charity. Every donation, no matter how big or small, can help make a real difference to families when they need it most.
