Lilys Big Birthday 60 Chair Challenge for Act4Africa

The 60 Chair Challenge for Act4Africa · 7 August 2025
Taking a Seat So Girls in Uganda Can Stand Tall
I'm turning 60 this year (yes, really!), and instead of slowing down, I'm sitting down—for change.
Over the next 60 days, I’ll sit in 60 different chairs in 60 different places—some funny, some famous, some deeply personal. Each seat represents a moment of reflection and a chance to raise money for Act4Africa, an amazing charity that I helped to found 25 years ago. Act4Africa has fought tirelessly to fight poverty and gender inequality in East Africa during this time, helping hundreds of thousands of vulnerable young people through its Health, Education, Agriculture and Livelihood Programmes.
I’m inviting YOU to help me raise £6,000 (that’s £100 for each chair!) to support Act4Africa’s life-changing work in health, education, and girls’ empowerment in Uganda. Monies raised will fund the work of our Strong Women’s Programme, helping vulnerable teenage mums to access counselling, develop life skills and launch micro-businesses so that they can provide for their families. It will also fund free pre-school places for their children at our highly acclaimed kindergarten, providing infants with a launchpad for a better life.
Here are 4 ways you can get involved:
• Suggest a chair (preferably in the UK – I have limited time and budget to complete the challenge!)
• Sponsor a seat here (let me know if you would like me to come and sit in your company or favourite place – we will be doing lots of social media to promote the challenge).
• Make a donation here and help vulnerable mums and children in Africa to stand tall.
• Join in by setting up your own Chair Challenge (choose how many you’d like to do).
Thank you for helping me to celebrate my big 6-0 being part of this crazy, meaningful, sit-down protest for hope.
