WHAT ARE WE DOING?
We are cycling from Limehouse, East London, to Little Venice, West London to raise money for Children of Rwanda! But - we are doing it on hired 'Santander bikes' and going completely along London canals!
The route is over 40km and we did this in January 2020 and it was a real challenge but we had a lot of fun and can’t wait to do it again!
WHO IS TAKING PART?
Fiona Clarke, Getahun Abebe, Tim Clarke, Rachel Lee, Amber Cruddace, Camille White, Izzy Agerback (let us know if you would like to join this list!)
WHY ARE YOU DOING IT?
We are fundraising for Children of Rwanda, an incredible grassroots charity, which Fiona is also a trustee for. In Western Rwanda, thousands of children are unable to attend school as their families can't afford the cost of schooling. Children of Rwanda is a registered NGO that enables children to return to class and benefit from their universal right to an education in a sustainable way by working with their parents to increase their household income enough to cover the costs of schooling without relying on external help.
They have also just started a project addressing period poverty. Period poverty affects thousands of women and girls in the community in Western Rwanda, this project aims to bring sustainable and affordable access to reusable sanitary pads. This will be life-changing for so many in the community as it means women and girls will no longer miss out on school or work when they have their periods.
They are a small charity so donations make such a huge difference and go so far!
