Discovery Mast Climb in aid of the RRS Discovery · 20 March 2026 to 22 March 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Dundee Heritage Trust is the proud guardian of two of Scotland's best-loved museums: Discovery Point, home of the pioneering Antarctic ship, RRS Discovery, and Verdant Works, Dundee's last working Victorian mill and industrial heritage centre.

Story

In March 2026, I will take on the exhilarating challenge of climbing the mast of the RRS Discovery to support our mission to preserve this iconic ship for future generations.

Anyone who knows me understands that heights are not my thing – I get the wobbles just standing on a chair! Yet, I am determined to push myself well out of my comfort zone by climbing 25 metres up the rigging of this historic Antarctic vessel, before ziplining back down to the dock. While I will be safely harnessed, I need your support to help me harness my fear - so I can raise funds for a truly great cause.

The Dundee Heritage Trust does incredible work engaging communities and welcoming thousands of visitors each year. The charity is committed to protecting our heritage, including the Dundee-built Antarctic research vessel, Discovery. This is where I need your help!

I am aiming to raise £300 to support this vital work. Your generous donations will make a significant impact in preserving our maritime history and ensuring that future generations can experience this remarkable ship.
