Linda Ashe - London Marathon 2025 HEADLAND UNIT - RCHT Ditty

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Hi, I’m Linda – old enough to know better but daft enough to care!
I don’t look good in lycra but running gear I wear,
to help me plod the streets and train for 26 miles of pain.
I’m running for the RCHT, the HEADLAND UNIT to gain.
It’s the chemotherapy ward – lots of money is my aim.
I’m pleading for your pounds and coins, to give them what they need.
I hope that with my silky lyrics the target I’ll succeed!
Then all I have to do, is work my way round streets,
and notch up all the miles whilst thinking on my feet.
My sister Charlotte, was 27, and treated on this ward,
my partner, Jason, a lucky one, who they managed to cure.
Countless friends and colleagues have walked through their doors,
The Headland has been so helpful to dozens even scores.
“Those that can’t – would, those that can – should”
I’ll harness all the sadness and turn it into good.
This will be my mantra – to prepare me for the race
With pain and determination no doubt etched upon my face.
So, when I’m on the start line preparing for my run,
Knowing that the moneys raised – then it will be fun.
I’d like to say a BIG thank you to those who will donate,
The Headland Unit hopefully, can then celebrate.
