Story
In October 2023 my big brother, Stuart, took on the Cani-trail Ultra 2 and completed it. He then challenged me to take part in Cani-Trail Ultra 3 in March 24 in Wales. Sadly just before CP1 I fell down a hill and hurt my back and had to pull out at CP1 and was unable to complete the Ultra. However, the challenge was to complete the Ultra, so Iris and I have signed up to complete the Cani-Half Marathon on the 19th of October 2024 and will sign up to complete the next Ultra in March 2025 when the event opens. This marathon challenge will be dedicated to the memory of my Dad who died of Oesophagus cancer in March 2013.

Everyone also knows I was diagnosed with Acinic Cell Carcinoma of the breast (a rare subtype of Triple Negative breast cancer) in 2017 and this is also a big factor as to why I have chosen Future Dreams as the charity to raise funds for during this race. I consider myself blessed that I am in remission, but also well aware that it could change at any time and the possibility of Secondary Breast Cancer will always be that cloud that hangs over my head. So it is vital that organisations like Future Dreams exist to provide that support and research to women that need it.
Every single person you meet in life will be touched by cancer in one way or another, so the more research and assistance families can receive when faced with this dreadful disease can only ease the burden and hopefully give more precious time with your loved ones.
Future Dreams is raising funds to support women through their breast cancer journey.
FD works on a number of campaigns to create awareness and fund research projects, with a main focus on secondary breast cancer.
Over 50,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year, the equivalent of one person every 10 minutes according to Breast Cancer Care. To date Future Dreams has raised over £5m pledging funds towards the charities three aims - support, awareness and research, focusing on secondary breast cancer.
