Autism Angels Brimham Rocks Charity Abseil, 6 April 2024
We are very excited to announce Autism Angel's first ever charity abseil. The event will take place during World Autism Acceptance Week 2024 and will be held at the natural spectacle of Brimham Rocks set in heart of Nidderdale.

Story

💡 Did you know that, after just a short space of time, a horse's heart rate responds to a human's heart rate? This can lead to both heart rates syncing... resulting in a lowering of the heart rate of someone who is stressed or anxious...

Isn't that magical?

🙏 Thank you so much if you've donated to our abseil at Brimham Rocks.... we're blown away by your kindness.

And you've helped us smash our fundraising target!

All those fivers really DO add up... and a fiver really is enough for a donation.

A few brave kids are going to be jumping off a rock face at Brimham Rocks in North Yorkshire next weekend. And that's not easy when you're 10 (or younger).

I'll be doing it too (did I mention that I'm scared of heights?).

If you have a spare fiver, please consider sponsoring us. The charity is Autism Angels in the Yorkshire Dales. They offer amazing equine therapy and work with families all over Yorkshire at their beautiful farm.

🌟 This is very important because it helps kids to build confidence and learn new skills, and be a part of a wonderful community. Some of the kids can't access school or other clubs. Autism Angels is a lifeline for many families.

And the kids love spending time with the horses.

If you can't donate at the moment, then that's no problem at all... we totally understand. Thank you very much for reading this and helping to raise awareness of this fantastic charity 🙂

And if you can spare a fiver - thank you.

💛 This is a picture of my son's favourite horse, Blackjack.

Hard to believe that when Blackjack was first rescued by Sarah, who runs Autism Angels, he was totally terrified of humans. He'd been so badly treated, it took a very long time for him to trust anyone... Now he loves spending time with children, and they love getting to know him and learning to ride him. He's relaxed and gentle - a very special horse. (He was also totally black when rescued!)

Going to Austim Angels is the highlight of my son's week.

________

QUICK UPDATE: The abseil took place over Easter and it was very high, very windy - and VERY SCARY! Total raised so far from very kind donations: Over £6,000.

Autism Angels needs to raise £80,000 per year JUST TO EXIST in its current form. That helps to cover training, insurance, rent, food, vet bills, etc.

________

Some words from Autism Angels:

• Autism Angels provides therapeutic services to families with children who are neurodiverse, have learning difficulties or other complex needs.

• We provide a range of sessions combining a therapeutic approach with Equine Facilitated Coaching to support the needs of the whole family at our outdoor care farm.

• Demand for our services is increasing all the time. We never want cost to be a barrier to families seeking the help and support they need.

• Fundraising is essential for families so we can continue providing much needed support, maintain vital services and create a community space our families can access and be supported.

This video is very inspiring about autism - and the work of Autism Angels, which is a very unique place: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GorP2pFOz9Q
