This year, 24 K2 employees from across the globe will take part in the company’s main charitable initiative for 2023, an expedition and a volunteering programme in Nepal.

On the 26th November, our project team will fly out to Nepal to embark on two projects; the first group will take on the renowned Everest Base Camp Trek, and the second group will head into remote villages surrounding Pokhara, to help refurbish local schools.

The money that we raise will be channelled through the K2 Foundation and used to support education in a favela in São Paulo, Brazil. We have partnered with Associação Semeando Amor, a charity in São Paulo which supports local children growing up in the favelas. The charity runs a school for some of these children, but as a result of time passing and the school community growing, the school building is no longer fit for purpose.

Through the Foundation, K2 will rebuild the school so that it can continue to provide a safe, educational space for local children.

I am really excited and terrified to be taking part in this epic fundraising event with K2, as the oldest member of the team, I will be putting a lot of pressure on myself to reach Basecamp.

Anyone who knows me will know, I hate camping, hate heights and hate being cold. This is so far outside my comfort zone, but so worth it for this amazing cause.
