Story

Thanks from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is a subject close to my heart and the first time I have spoken publicly about my mental health. For those who know me I may appear to you as a bubbly person who enjoys socialising and a few glasses of wine! 😘

For those who know me better, and I love you all deeply, I live with a diagnosed mental health condition of mild to moderate depression and anxiety. Or so my doctors notes say. I take a low dose of antidepressants daily, and these have been changed to various types and strengths over the last 15 or so years.

In April 2023 I went on a family long weekend away to centre parcs to celebrate my sister-in-laws 50, all planned and executed by yours truely! On arrival feeling stressed to the eyeballs I realised I hadn’t brought my medication with me. Thinking I could manage without it I went cold Turkey and on arriving back home I couldn’t find my medication and had to wait a few days for a repeat prescription. Unfortunately my doctors were not helpful in getting it quicker. Usually I get more warning signs but this time I spiraled downwards quickly. I was unable to cope with basic tasks and was having panic attacks and suicidal thoughts. I needed a good few months off work to get back to my usual-ish self.

Though this experience was difficult, I have learned about the importance of taking my medication, being fit & healthy and trying to put myself first more! We all have such busy life’s and mental health takes its toll when we are juggling so much and trying to please so many.

I truly believe that health is our greatest wealth! So if I can leave you with a thought today please do more to fill your bucket, nourish your soul and do what makes you happy ❤️ even if that is having a glass of wine 😀. Lots of love to you all and thanks for your donation. Lindsay.
