Lindsay Worville is raising money for Katharine House Hospice - Banbury

Trek China for KHH · 9 October 2026 to 17 October 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

This trek covers remote sections of The Great Wall of China from Gubeikou, Jinshanling and Simitai. Trekking through wild and remote landscapes and one of the great wonders of the world as a backdrop.

Story

So… I’ve somehow signed myself up to walk a section of the Great Wall of China. Yes, that Great Wall. The very long, very steep, very ancient one that was definitely not designed with modern walking boots — or my legs — in mind.

Why am I doing this?

Because I’m raising money for Katharine House Hospice, a fantastic local charity that supports people and families when they need it most. I don’t have a personal connection to the hospice (thankfully!), but I’ve seen how much good they do in our community, and it feels important to help keep that going.

While I’m tackling the steps, slopes, and general leg-based regret of the Great Wall, the team at Katharine House will be doing the real hard work — providing comfort, care, and compassion every single day. The least I can do is sweat a bit on their behalf.

If you’d like to sponsor me, I promise to take every step with enthusiasm, determination, and only occasional dramatic complaining. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a huge difference and is massively appreciated.

Katharine House relies heavily on the local community to help fund the hospice. It costs £14,539 per day to run Katharine House Hospice. Your donation will not only help to fund the clinical costs at the hospice, but also all the extra services that make it such a special place – from bereavement support to art therapies, from relaxation classes to the hospice food and so much more.
