I am running the Yorkshire Marathon on the 18th October 2026 and the London Marathon on the 27th April 2027 for Bowel Research UK.

This will be my fourth London Marathon running for BRUK and my fifth London Marathon since October 2022.

I want to run for BRUK to give back after all the wonderful treatment I received through three major operations and to help other people who are experiencing bowel cancer or bowel disease. Many friends and family feel I should give up now :-). However, this is my way of supporting the research and activities funded by BRUK. Their work is crucial in helping to educate people to prevent bowel cancer, but also in the future treatment of bowel cancer.

I don't want anyone to go through the experiences I did. I want to also support others like me, to live a full and healthy life with a stoma after bowel cancer treatment. Some of the work I will be helping BRUK with during my training this time will hopefully encourage others to take exercise after bowel surgery.

Training for these marathons has got me through a very difficult period of my life, whilst I have recovered from bowel cancer and readjusted to life with my stoma. I actually hate running as I am very lazy. However, it stretches me mentally and physically and has shown me I can achieve what seems impossible! Without my running I am sure I would have needed a lot of therapy to heal my mind whilst my body was recovering from my treatment and operations. Plus, running has made me fitter, stronger and so much tougher.

I would both like to thank BRUK for all the amazing work you do and for the privilege and opportunity of running for you in the London Marathon 2027.
