London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

At Bendrigg Trust we aim to put an end to disabled people sitting on the side-lines during physical activities. We provide opportunities for people of all abilities to take part in adapted activities such as climbing, caving, canoeing and cycling whilst staying in our fully accessible accommodation.

Story

As you might know I started running in March 2023, it was a little for fitness a lot for Wellbeing & Mental Health. I was time poor busy & struggling I certainly wasn’t a runner. Enter Couch to 5k I hated it I couldn’t breathe & 60 seconds was an eternity, I also love it the green space, the cold air even the rain (there has been lots of rain). I doubted I could do it I had no faith in myself but I trusted the program & something happened I started to love it, look forward to the pain & joy. I started to feel proud of myself & dream of marathons especially the London Marathon.

So when the amazing Bendrigg Trust opened applications to run for them I hit apply. Why, because Bendrigg Trust is all about removing barriers, celebrating achievements of individuals, of making everyone feel proud of stepping out of their comfort zone into the unknown & the invigorating, amazing wellbeing that is found in the outdoors. I wanted to run because I can & as someone that wants to remove barriers, be an ally and celebrate diversity I want to take that privilege and support Bendrigg Trust in changing lives. I would love if you could support me in raising funds for this life changing Charity that has given me this opportunity to achieve a goal of mine too.

Visit them on Facebook, Insta or the web but here’s a snap shot of how your support will change lives.

Bendrigg Trust challenges perceptions of disabled & disadvantaged people through adventurous activities.

Just £40 can support a person with a disability to try climbing for the first time & start to believe in what they can do, rather than what they think they can't.

We use adaptive equipment & specialist knowledge to enable people take part in activities they may have never dreamt possible, due to their disability or social disadvantage. Your donation will help to unlock the confidence of disabled & disadvantaged people from across the UK.
