Story

Thanks so much for visiting my JustGiving page – it truly means a lot 💛

This year, I’ve been in two minds about running the London Marathon. With two months to go, my training hasn’t gone quite to plan thanks to a troublesome left knee. On top of that, my creative brain seems to come alive after 9pm when I’m working on designs – and once it switches on, it doesn’t switch off! Late nights make early morning training runs tough, and I’ve found myself overthinking (most of the day) about missed miles and how I will increase the mileage in time rather than enjoying the run itself.

So instead of putting pressure on one big race day, I’ve decided to take on a different challenge – one that feels healthier for both my body and mind.

From Friday, I’m committing to running (or walking when needed!)

1,352 miles over the next year

Why 1,352? Harry would have been 26 this year, and I want to become a “365Hero” in his honour.

26 miles × 52 weeks = 1,352 miles.

That works out at 3.7 miles a day or any combination of miles and days that gets me to the total. This approach gives me flexibility, consistency, and most importantly, joy in the journey. I’ll also be keeping a little blog to track the miles along the way.

Although my marathon place was a ballot entry (so there’s no minimum fundraising target), I would absolutely love to raise £850; the cost of running Help Harry Help Others for a single day.

If you’d like to support me, I’m inviting you to sponsor a mile for £1.

For every mile you sponsor, I will run it in memory or in honour of someone you name.

£1 = 1 mile of remembrance or hope

£10 = 10 miles dedicated to someone special

If you’ve already donated and would like miles dedicated to someone – whether in memory or in support of someone currently facing illness – please let me know. I’ll add their name to my blog and, if you’d like, a photo and a few words about them.

Why is Help Harry Help Others so important to me?

The charity began with a remarkable young boy called Harry, whose selflessness, empathy, passion and cheekiness helped raise an incredible £750,000. His legacy lives on through his mum – now a close friend – who continues to make a profound difference to individuals and families affected by cancer in Birmingham, as well as funding vital research.

Anything you’re able to give will be so gratefully appreciated.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe, and the money goes directly to the charity – making it the most efficient way to give and ensuring as much as possible supports the people who need it most.

Thank you so much for your support 💛
