Story
Having lost my beautiful mum to cancer almost 7 years ago, after a 4 year battle, I have decided to take on another challenge in her memory.
Seeing one of the most precious people face the biggest challenge of their life and gradually slip away in front of you made this an easy decision. From the initial diagnosis back in 2014, St Luke's offered a safe space for respite as well as day classes that would help mum to find a brief escape through things like reflexology and painting.
Having lost my dad when I was four years old my mum worked tirelessly to bring both my brother and I up. Life was tough but she never complained and she would even count herself lucky that she had lived a good life free from illness up until this point.
Having made a promise to myself that I would keep my mum’s memory alive, especially for my two boys who had the best Nanna in the world, I take on this challenge. Sadly, their time was cut short and my youngest never really got to know his Nanna and what an amazing, strong, kind person she was.
Let’s hope that this challenge helps to keep that memory going whilst also supporting this wonderful charity with the fantastic care they continue to offer in what are extremely challenging times.
