Story
A few days after celebrating my 50th birthday, my world changed when I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer which was picked up on a routine mammogram.
In January 2025, I underwent a Wise Pattern therapeutic mammoplasty to remove a 2cm tumour. This was followed by a course of radiotherapy, and I am now continuing my treatment with endocrine medication.
Cancer changes you in ways you could never imagine. There’s the fear and uncertainty, but there’s also the moments of strength, and gratitude. Throughout my diagnosis and treatment, I was fortunate to receive amazing care and support from the team at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
Now, I want to give something back….
On 24th April 2027, I will be taking on the incredible challenge of running the London Marathon in support of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity the charity where I received my treatment.
I am not just running 26.2 miles for myself. I will be running for everyone who has heard the words, “You have cancer.”
For those currently going through treatment, for those living beyond cancer, for those who have lost loved ones and for the families and friends who support them, and for the incredible healthcare professionals who make such a difference every single day.
Every mile will be a reminder of how far I’ve come since my diagnosis.
Taking on the London Marathon will be one of the biggest challenges of my life, but after everything the past couple of years have taught me, I know that we can find a strength we never knew we had.
Please support me if you can. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Clatterbridge Cancer Charity continue supporting patients and funding vital work that makes a real difference to people affected by cancer.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me on this journey ❤️
