This is one of the hardest posts we’ve ever had to write.

This year has started in a way we could never have predicted. In just the first three months, we have taken in and safely rehomed twice as many dogs as we did in the same period last year. Every single one of those dogs needed us — many were at real risk of euthanasia — and of course, we said yes.

But saying yes has come at a cost.

Financially, this has been a devastating start to the year. We have already used ten times more of our reserves than we had by this point last year, simply to give these dogs the care they deserve.

Right now:

We are being asked daily to take in more dogs in urgent need

We have space — 10 empty kennels ready and waiting

But we do not have the funds to safely continue at this pace

Each dog costs us, on average, £1,700 to prepare for rehoming — covering veterinary care, food, rehabilitation, and everything they need for a second chance. Our rehoming fee is just £250, because our priority has always been the dogs, not profit.

An additional 50 dogs this year alone will cost us around £75,000.

As Trustees, we have to be honest and responsible. If we cannot raise additional funds now, we are looking at our final 12 months. We will never compromise on welfare — we would rather do this properly for one more year than continue and be forced to cut corners. That is not who we are.

We are incredibly proud of our team. They are experienced, dedicated, and give everything for these dogs every single day.

We don’t like to simply ask for donations. We always try to give something back. But today, we are asking for your help in a different way.
