Story
Hello everyone
I am taking part in the MANCHESTER MARATHON on the 27th April 2025. I must be mad having run London but before I knew it I had entered another! The training has been hard this time round , not sure being 4yrs older has helped!
Daily life at times has gotten in the way and I'm not sure my head has been fully focused at times either. I haven't followed as much of the training plan as I had hoped and have questioned whether I can do it again. I've given myself a good talking to on many occasions and have found a new love of the treadmill which helped me train during winter months. Thanks for the 6 seasons of sex in the city I've watched whilst on the mill lol
*** I will be turning up at the start time with 36,000 others. I will run the 26.2 mile victory lap and collect my medal ***
Longest training run completed today, 21 miles. Only 1 less than when I trained last time so pretty pleased with myself.
I have decided to use this opportunity to fund raise for a local Charity and have decided to support:
HEADWAY NOTTINGHAM.
For those not familiar with this charity, Headway are the local charity supporting people throughout Nottingham's city and county to rebuild life skills after brain injury. Their centre is a hub of friendship and hope in what can be a confusing and isolating world after sudden, devastating brain injury strikes.
When brain injury is mentioned people often imagine a traumatic incident such as a road traffic collision or a fall, but rarely do they think about the other causes of brain injury, and there are many. Every 90 seconds someone in the UK is admitted to hospital after an acquired brain injury (ABI) and the chances are that you know someone who has been affected. Perhaps you know somebody who has had a stroke, a brain tumour or a heart attack and is living with some difficulties as a result.
The principle objectives of Headway Nottingham are to promote the understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to provide information, support and services to those living in Nottinghamshire who have sustained a brain injury, along with their families and carers.
If you would like to support me in my running event and could spare a few pennies to donate I would be truly grateful.
