Story
Over the past few years, I’ve been helping to raise money for the Cancer Care Centre at the RUH in Bath alongside a fantastic group of friends. We do this by organising metal detecting events across the South West, supporting a cause that means so much to all of us.
A few years ago, I completed a skydive in aid of the RUH and, if I’m honest, I hated every minute of it! I felt awful afterwards, yet somehow I decided that taking on another challenge like this would be a good idea. The way I see it, anyone going through chemotherapy or cancer treatment faces something far more difficult than me feeling unwell for ten minutes, so I’m determined to go for it.
Like so many people, I have sadly lost family members to cancer over the years. This jump is in memory of two wonderful men who had a huge impact on my life.
Firstly, my Uncle Keith. He was the life and soul of every gathering, always ready with a joke and a smile. His laugh was truly infectious, and he is missed every day.
Secondly, my father-in-law, Rodney Cook. During his treatment, the staff at the RUH were nothing short of angels. Words cannot describe the incredible work they do. Day in and day out, they provide outstanding care and support, not only to patients but also to their families during some of the most difficult times of their lives.
If you are able to support me in raising money for the RUH and its Cancer Care Centre, I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation, no matter the size, helps support the amazing work they do.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
Lisa
