Lisa's fundraiser for CUREUSHER UK

Supernova Forth Road Bridge · 2 November 2024 ·
Hey everyone hope you are all doing well after a little break while Jumble recovers from her surgery she doing amazing now. I am finally back to doing my crazy challenges again :) I will be doing 5k over the Forth Road Bridge in the DARK! As those who know me will know I have Ushers Syndrome I am Profoundly Deaf, legally blind and have balance issues. My sight has now completely gone in my left eye and I only have a tiny central vision left in my right eye left. With ushers syndrome if it dark your vision is gone so I will be doing this 5k in complete darkness just to add to the fun (especially walking over a bridge) let just hope I stay in the middle and not to near the edge as that water is FREEZING so I try my best to stay on the path! haha. (but then again my balance is not great either I do not have much going for me just now do I haha. But like with all my other challenges I am so determined to do this as I hope one day we do find a cure for Ushers. I know it to late for my sight to be saved now but hopefully the more money and awareness we can save more sights in the future. Ushers Syndrome is a rare genetic disease that cause Deafness, sight loss and in some cases balance issues. Having Ushers terrifies my even today but it also gives me so much determination to live life to the fullest but also to continue to show people that Ushers does not defy who I am I may take a little longer or need a little help but it always get there in the end. It does not stop me doing crazy challenges or even graduating University despite being told "University is not a place for people like you, People with disabilities" With Jumble my guide dog (now retired) by my side we knocked down all the barriers put in our way and graduated University with a 2.1 honours. I have also done two skydives, wing walk, half marathon, marathon, Kiltwalks, Grand Canyon trek, walked 1000 steps up London cheese grater building before abseiling down it, edge walk on the CN Tower in Toronto and became the very first Deafblind person to do the City Climb off on of New York highest building The Edge climbing up on the outside of the building before hanging over the edge did I mention it was higher than the Empire State Building :D so much more in the 10 years of being diagnosed so as you can see I have completed so much since being diagnosed with Ushers and continue to show people that anything is possible. Please help support this amazing charity and raise much needed awareness and hopefully enough funding to get much more research done to find a CURE for Ushers. Thank you so much for the continue support it honestly means so much to me. Thank you Lisa & Jumble
