Story
Thanks for taking a minute to visit my page.
At the end our August I’ll be taking on a swim that’s been on my challenge list for years – a 6.5km open water race from Asia to Europe, across one of the busiest shipping channels in the world.
We’ll be swimming in open water with strong currents, choppy conditions, and zero wetsuits allowed – just a swimsuit, goggles, and a swim hat. It’s a one-shot deal with over 2,000 swimmers in the water at once, so the pressure is on to hit the right line or risk getting swept past the finish. It’s going to be tough – both the swim and the training to get there.
I’m fundraising for The Macular Society, an incredible charity doing vital work to support people living with macular disease – the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK. They provide advice, fund research, and help people keep their independence and confidence. Sight loss is something many of us take for granted until it affects someone we love.
This one means a lot – not only because of the challenge, but also because SpaMedica, where I work, is hugely supportive of the Macular Society and the work they do.
As always, my dad has given this challenge the official sign-off – “just crazy enough” – and is keeping me honest on the training front. He’ll also be there in Istanbul as Chief Cheer Officer, making sure I have somewhere to collapse at the end.
Every penny helps. I’ve self-funded the trip, so all donations go straight to the charity. A fiver would honestly mean the world.
Thanks so much for your support x
